Architect: ORMS

Milk Structures were part of a multi-disciplinary team monitoring the base build and designing the high quality fit-out for the headquarters of Ogier Jersey, one of the world’s leading providers of offshore legal and fiduciary services.

The base build development consisted of a 6 storey office building, including ground floor, and basement level. The floor plates are set back at 5th floor level, providing external terraces to overlook both Esplanade and Seaton Place. Special structures within the fit-out include an iconic bespoke helical staircase that links the reception and client suite areas and an atrium balustrade comprising of cantilever panels in mild steel or glass.

The staircase is located at the base of the large atrium, the upper floor plate was infilled to reach out and support the staircase. It was designed with twin flat plate stringers which rise up to form a continuous balustrade line that wraps around to enclose the circular opening.

The stair structure is fabricated from 12mm thick mild steel plate and completed with black spray-painted site-applied finish. Milk Structures worked closely with Canal Engineering throughout the detailed design and fabrication process of this beautiful staircase.
