german gymnasium

Architect: Conran+Partners

The German Gymnasium in King’s Cross was constructed in 1864-65 for the German Gymnastics Society, a sporting association established in London in 1861 by Ernst Ravenstein. The building is Grade II listed.

The architecture outline and structure core was developed by Allies+Morrison with Bam Construction. Milk Structures and Conran+Partners were engaged for the internal fit-out for an extraordinary D&D restaurant.

Working with the new core structure, Milk was involved in floor connections with a new feature staircase, a secondary staircase and the lift. The structural fit-out also included steel balustrades with infill brass mesh, a high-level inclined mirror structure and three metre high bar shelving unit.
